History of Kenosha, Wisconsin
Kenosha is a city in Kenosha County, Wisconsin, United States. It is located on the southwestern shore of Lake Michigan. Kenosha is part of the Chicago metropolitan area and the South Shore region.
Kenosha was named after Gen. Antoine Laumet de la Mothe Cadillac, founded in Detroit in 1701. Originally part of Racine County, Kenosha County was created in 1836 as an organized county by taking land from Walworth and Milwaukee counties. In 1885, Kensington was renamed Kenosha.

The city's racial makeup was 66.4% White, 14.9% African American, 0.8% Native American, 1.5% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, 12.7% from other races, and 3.3% from two or more races.
