Edina, MN Real Estate & Homes For Sale

Edina, Minnesota, is a great place to live. It has excellent schools, parks and recreation areas, and a thriving economy in Hennepin County. The people who live in Edina are friendly and welcoming, and there is always something going on in the city.

The Edina real estate market offers various housing options, from luxury homes to starter homes and everything in between. Whether you're looking for a spacious single-family home or a cozy condo, you can find something to fit your needs in Edina.

History of Edina, Minnesota

The history of Edina, Minnesota, can be traced back to the mid-19th century when the area was still primarily rural and agricultural. The first settlers in the area were predominantly Irish and Scottish immigrants who arrived in the 1840s and 1850s. A small community developed around the present-day intersection of France Avenue and Highway 100, and a post office was established there in 1857.

The early years of Edina were marked by growth and development. The town's first church, Presbyterian Church, was built in 1868, and the first school opened just a few years later in 1873. In 1874, the Minneapolis and St. Louis Railway (now known as the Union Pacific) built a rail line through Edina, which helped spur further growth and development in the community.

Edina began to grow in the early 1900s, thanks mainly to its proximity to Minneapolis. Many people who worked in Minneapolis but wanted to live in a more suburban setting began moving to Edina, and the population snowballed. The first golf course in Edina opened in 1916, followed by the first country club in 1922. In 1927, Edina became an official city - it had previously been a part of Hennepin County.

World II was a time of growth for Edina. New neighborhoods were developed, and the population continued to increase. In the 1950s, construction began on Interstate 35W, which ran through Edina. This made the city convenient for people who worked in Minneapolis but wanted to live in the suburbs.

Today, Edina is a thriving community. It is home to excellent schools, parks, and recreation facilities. The city's central location makes it easy to get around, whether commuting to work or running errands.

Demographics of Edina, Minnesota

The population of Edina, Minnesota, is racially and ethnically diverse. According to the most recent census, the city is home to approximately 50,000 people, of whom 44% are white, 27% are Asian, 17% are Hispanic or Latino, and 6% are black. There is a large concentration of Asian Americans in Edina, thanks partly to the proximity to Minneapolis, which has a large Asian American population.

The median household income in Edina is over $100,000, and the unemployment rate is just 3%. The city has a high homeownership rate (over 90%) and a low crime rate. The median age in Edina, Minnesota, is 38.9 years old. This is significantly higher than the national median age of 37.4 years old. However, the population of Edina is still multiplying, so the median age is likely to continue to rise in the coming years.

Edina is a beautiful place to live. There are so many things to do in the city, and it's always a great place to get out and explore. Here are some of our favorite things to do in Edina:

One of our favorite things is to go for a walk or run around Lake Cornelia. It's a beautiful lake right in the heart of Edina, and there's always something going on there. You can also rent boats and kayaks from the lake or go fishing.

Another one of our favorite things to do is visit the Edina Art Fair. This fair takes place every year in August, and it's an excellent opportunity to check out some fantastic art from local artists. There's also food, music, and other activities at the fair, so it's a great way to spend an afternoon or evening.

There are also plenty of shopping options around Edina. Some of our favorites include the Mall of America, the largest mall in the United States, and Southdale Center, an indoor mall with over 200 stores.

Southdale Center is the United States' first indoor mall. It opened in 1956 and was designed by Victor Gruen, credited with designing the country's first suburban shopping center. Southdale was initially built with two levels, but a third level was added in 1974. The mall underwent a significant renovation in 2002, and today it features over 200 stores and restaurants.
