Other families began to settle in the area over the next several years, but it was not until 1888 that the Village of Shoreview was incorporated. The early economy of Shoreview was based on agriculture and forestry.
The railroad's arrival in 1904 led to rapid growth for Shoreview. The population grew from 288 in 1900 to 1,363 by 1920.
