History of Sartell, Minnesota
The City of Sartell was first known as “The Third Rapids.” French fur traders gave it this name because it was the third river they would encounter on their journey upriver from Minneapolis. One such trader was Joseph B, who settled here in 1854 and opened the flour mill near Watab Creek Park soon after; he became an important figure for not only his community but also statehood itself when helping build some parts that made America what we know today- including supplying wood needed during construction time atomizers like Fort Bull veteranized many times over until its guns locked firmly with powder cartridges in the Dakota War of 1862.
The Watab Paper Mill was started in 1905 and completed seven years later. The first dam across the Mississippi near "third rapids" helped create safer boat travel upriver, but it also led to many deaths; seven people lost their lives during construction on this project alone! A company called St Regis Paper Company made its way out into nature's elements after being founded back then as well - they've been around since 1906, providing goods like pulp paper for over 100 years now (and counting). Finally, we come closer to modern times with Champion International, which took over what had formerly become known as 'The old standby' before finally becoming just a memory in 2009 due to the current recession.
The Village of Sartell was incorporated in 1907. When it became a town, several influential people thought the name should be "Wengert" after one man who helped make this community possible; however, there were also those with relatives here that wanted an opportunity at recognition so they could continue their legacy through architecture--and because he genuinely cared about how things turned out for everyone involved (even if you didn't know him). And thus, we have our current moniker: The City Of Roses!
