History of Weston, Wisconsin

When the first settlers arrived in 1836, there were only a few cleared areas and no buildings. They called this land “The Red Hills” because it used to be covered with trees from forest fires that burned through them over time during lightning-sparked storms during autumn months when farmers would have been out looking for crops after planting their seeds earlier that spring season.

The Town of Weston's history goes back much further than just its founding date on November 12th, 1956; we can see how things changed quite dramatically not long afterward, though - less than two decades later, the name had altered yet again to become “Weston”, this time in recognition of the first postmaster, Asaph Weston.

The Village of Weston was originally inhabited only by Native Americans. The first commerce in this town consisted almost exclusively of hunting and fur trading. Still, it soon became an important center for trade along the Wisconsin River due to its location just upstream from Lake Manominie, which provided Boat transport up North during the early days after the British settled down here, following US pioneers who had already arrived before them. The land between the present-day downtown area south and Drifting campground road came reasonably quickly under the white settlement.

Many mills were located along the Eau Claire River during the lumbering era. As time passed and the industry declined, so too did these installations; some eventually destroyed themselves while others fell apart naturally over years of neglect or destruction by fire caused largely due to their location near heavily wooded areas, which made them obsolete when modern technologies became available for cutting down trees more efficiently than ever before.

In the early 20th century, logging ended in this town, and agriculture became its primary form of commerce. The gently rolling soils that remained after were perfect for growing many crops, including corn which eventually led to other businesses developing around it, with residential areas booming too!

The early history of the Village was a time capsule that had been slowly sinking to pieces. The only evidence left behind is some pilings along the Eau Claire River, which is where you will find all old lumber mills from before their destruction or fall apart due to rusting away at their foundations after years upon decades of utilizing them exclusively for this purpose - cutting down trees and processing what could be used in construction projects like buildings; bridges, etcetera. It was not until second-growth forests began popping up everywhere besides these riverbanks that people realized just how much green space had existed right under our noses!
